CULTURE MAPPING INDIA vs. JAPAN 2. The theory of Hofstede’s cultural dimensions constitutes a framework revolving around cross-cultural communication, which was devised by Geert Hofstede. The dimensions collectively portray the impact of the culture ingrained in society on the values of the members of that society. Hofstede’s Cultural Dimension was published in the 1970s with four dimensions that could distinguish one culture from the other. Later the fifth and sixth dimensions were added so that it can become the best standard for understanding cultural differences in the international arena. The six dimensions are as follows- 1.
